Simple, beautiful translucent sea green glass beads are the focus of these pretty dangle earrings. These are African Trade Glass beads and each one is unique and different. They average 12mm in diameter and are round/cylindrical in shape.
This particular kind of trade glass bead is traditionally (though not always) created from recycled glass, sometimes sea glass, that is heated to a molten state and then rolled around a metal rod to create the hole and bead shape then allowed to cool and harden once again.
The beads are wrapped in copper, starting with a spiral at the bottom, which wraps around the bead to the top loop.
They dangle from niobium ear hooks. Niobium is an element that is physiologically inert, making it completely hypo-allergenic. It's natural color is grey, but like titanium it can be anodized to create different colors. These niobium ear hooks are a deep bronze color with a tiny copper accent bead.
The copper is left raw, untreated and uncoated, so it will darken and develop a nice patina over time. The Niobium hooks will not patina or change color, and they will not leave a green mark on your ear.
If you have any questions at all about these earrings please message me, I'm happy to help!
